About Straighteners

Wire, tube, and strip straighteners correct curvature — the deviation of process material from a straight line — so downstream operations such as cutting, forming, welding, and coating start from consistently flat or round stock. Witels Albert straightening equipment is built as roll-type straighteners, in which straightening rolls are arranged in two offset rows so material passes through a series of alternating bends that reduce an initial curvature into a defined final curvature. These straighteners handle wire, tube, strip, cable, and profile material across a range of diameters, roll counts, and configurations, from compact units to multi-roll lines built for continuous production.

Choosing between series starts with your material, cross-section, and how tightly curved the incoming stock is: round wire and tube typically call for different roll geometry than flat strip or profile. Roll count matters too — more straightening rolls generally allow a tighter final curvature tolerance, since the material passes through more alternating bends, while fewer rolls apply a more aggressive bend over a shorter machine length. Some series also correct helicity — twist out of the straightening plane — in addition to curvature. Adjustable and quick-closing roll options, where available, matter most on lines that change material or gauge frequently, since repeatable roll positioning shortens setup between changeovers.
