Straightening roll brushes

Stationary brushes held by a cross arm that continuously wipe the straightening roll groove clean, preventing dirt deposits that would change the effective diameter and zero line, alter final curvature, and damage the straightened material.

Dirt, lubricant residues, dust, fines and metal particles form deposits in the straightening roll groove during the straightening process. These deposits affect the geometrical conditions on the straightening roll and impair the straightening results. The effective diameter and zero line in the straightener are changed, resulting in a change of final curvature. In addition to this, dirt deposits damage the surface of the straightened material and impair the quality of the final product.

A simple remedy comes in the form of a stationary brush which continuously cleans the straightening roll groove. This results in the following advantages:

  1. no deposits form on the straightening rolls,
  2. wear in the straightening roll groove is reduced,
  3. the straightening results remain constant,
  4. the product to be straightened is not damaged.

Straightening roll brushes are held by a cross arm so that they wipe over the straightening rolls.
